Road Trip!

On The Road Again

Summertime is here, and what better way to celebrate than with a road trip! Over the next two weeks, I will visit family, explore some places I haven't seen but want to, and speak at a Unity church. In other words, I get to do a mix of many of the things I love. My first stop is New Jersey, where I am visiting my sister and two nieces. I am enjoying my time with them and am so grateful that I get to do this in my third act of life. For over 50 years, I didn’t live close to my siblings and their children, and aside from occasional visits, I didn’t spend much time with them.

Who Moved?

My family, unlike some others, is a close-knit group that enjoys each other's company. However, during those 50-plus years, I often felt like an outsider, even though I knew I was the one who had moved away, not them, and any distance was my responsibility.

Now I live nearby, and I can get to know them better and enjoy their company, so I no longer feel like an outsider. It reminds me of my relationship with God.

God is always accessible because It is present everywhere. If I feel disconnected from God, it's because I have moved away, not because God has. Just as with my family, when I decided to get closer to them, I experienced the benefits of that connection. Similarly, when I take time to establish conscious contact with God, the benefits never cease to surprise me.

Are You Nurturing Your Relationships?

I've realized that achieving closer relationships requires my active effort rather than waiting for others. Similarly, if I desire a deeper connection with the God I understand, I need to dedicate time to nurturing it.

Quote of the Week:

“Family and friends are hidden treasures, seek them and enjoy their riches.” -- Wanda Hope Carter

How are you nurturing your relationships with family, friends and the GOD of your understanding this summer? If you feel comfortable, comment below. Please introduce yourself to me at the Unity Center of Pittsburgh when I speak in-person on July 27 and August 3!

UNITY PRINCIPLES

God is the source and creator of all; there is no other enduring power. God is good and present everywhere.

We are spiritual beings created in God's image. The spirit of God lives within each person; therefore all people are inherently good.

We create our life experiences through our way of thinking.

Through prayer and meditation, we increase our conscious contact with God, bringing forth love, wisdom, health, prosperity, and everything good.

Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough; we must live them!
