Midweek Message: June 18, 2025

Do You Worry?

Recently, I came across a saying: “Don’t bleed before the wound happens.” I found it to be a wonderful way to express a powerful spiritual concept that encourages us to live with less fear, worry, and stress. I find that when I’m worried about something, it’s usually about something that hasn’t happened yet. It certainly isn’t about the past (although regret may be connected to the

past) or the present. I spend too much of my time worrying about things that might or might not occur.

How Is Your Now?

Years ago, I had a mentor who, when I approached her with some fear or concern about my life, would ask me, "How is your now?" I didn’t like it because my now is always good.  Too often, we look ahead and worry about what might happen. However, many unforeseen events can alter any plans we make. Becoming overly attached to our expectations for the future only leads to a life filled with stress, worry, and concern. Instead of wasting my precious time worrying about a situation that might never happen, it’s better to use this time wisely and address the issue when it arises, if it does.

So, how do you live your life?

Are you living in fear, worried about what will happen next? Are you trapped in the past,

burdened by regret or by the "What ifs"?  I have found that it's much easier to cope with what life presents us when we live in the moment, appreciating the many gifts and recognizing that this moment is the only time we truly have.

Quote of the Week

"Live neither in the past nor in the future, but let each day’s work absorb your entire

energies.” Marcus Aurelius

How is YOUR now, right now? Please share in comments, and I hope to meet you in-person at Unity Center of Pittsburgh when I speak on the last Sunday of July and the first Sunday of August!

UNITY PRINCIPLES

God is the source and creator of all; there is no other enduring power. God is good and present everywhere.

We are spiritual beings created in God's image. The spirit of God lives within each person; therefore all people are inherently good.

We create our life experiences through our way of thinking.

Through prayer and meditation, we increase our conscious contact with God, bringing forth love, wisdom, health, prosperity, and everything good.

Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough; we must live them!
